International congress
NEUROPSYCHOLOGY - STATES AND
PERSPECTIVES

November 27th, 28th and 29th, 2012

Since the discovery of the implication of the Boca’s area in verbal expression (1861) and the Wernicke’s area in oral comprehension (1865), the researches on cerebral pathologies and their consequences on the behavior have been multiplied, and have given rise to the current neuropsychology.
Thanks to the improvement of cerebral imaging and to the development of the knowledge particularly in psychology, neuropsychology knows a significant evolution on both theoretical and clinical fields. Its methods of investigation have been improved, and with the contribution of cognitive psychology, theoretical models have been proposed to explain normal and pathological cognitive processes related to cerebral structures in the child, the adult and the elderly person. In other terms, the contemporary neuropsychology assigns for objectives studding deficits in relation with brain injury or with nervous system dysfunctions and studding of the normal cerebral functioning in order to understand and describe, in terms of processes, the relations between the several cognitive functions and the cerebral substratum.
So, neuropsychology asserted itself as a full discipline. Many fields were developed, going to acquired syndromes to developmental impairments, and cognitive processes deficits to normal processes.
However, it is important to note that the level of these advances differs from a region to the other one and from a country to the other one. Neuropsychology, in Algeria, is still for its debuts. Set apart the teaching of some courses in Bachelor and Master Degree or in Magister of psychology and\or speech and language therapy, it is impossible to us to claim its existence as a full discipline.
Therefore, in order to contribute to the emergence of neuropsychology in Algeria and in the Maghreb countries, and to the development of the neuropsychology in the world, the department of Psychology, Sciences of the Education and Speech and Language therapy of the University center of El Affroun (Blida-Algeria) organizes on November 27th, 28th and 29th, 2012, an international congress about " The neuropsychology: States and Perspectives”.
So, this congress aspires to the realization of the following objectives:
Make sensitive the professionals and the researchers of the importance of the
unification of the efforts of each to establish a rigorous and scientific neuropsychology in Algeria, in the other countries of the Big Maghreb and in the Arab world in partnership with the various countries in which the neuropsychology is rapidly expanding.
Favor the exchanges between researchers and practitioners of several fields and countries.
Allow to bring to light empirical researches realized in Algeria and in the world.
Allow to highlight reflections and work on the theoretical, clinical and therapeutic domains what will permit us to build the foundations of an Algerian scientific neuropsychology even, North African.
So, we propose the following themes:
1. History and definition of the neuropsychology.
2. Current situations of neuropsychology in Algeria, in the other countries of the Maghreb and in the world.
3. Neuropsychology of the child ranging from developmental disorders (specific language impairment, dyspraxia, dyslexia…) to acquired disorders (epilepsy, acquired aphasia, frontal syndromes…).
4. Neuropsychology of the adult and the elderly person in passing cognitive disorders (aphasia, memory deficits…) consecutive to a brain injury in affections related to neurodegenerative syndromes (SLA, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease)
5. Methods of evaluation and rehabilitation.
To achieve our objectives, we invite all clinicians, researchers and the professors in psychology, in neuropsychology, in cognitive neurosciences, in Speech and language therapy, in child-psychiatry, in neuropsychiatry, in neurology, in neurosurgery, in physical medicine wishing to participate in this congress to:
Send a summary - maximum 300 characters (Times New Roman 12 for the French and English languages and Simplifited Arabic 14 for the Arabic language)- by e-mail at the following address:
colloqueneuropsyblida@gmail.com
before June 15th, 2012.
For the persons wishing to intervene in Arabic language, a summary in English is required.
The result of the expertise will be transmitted by e-mail at the latest on July 30th, 2012.
In case of acceptance of the submission, the interested will have to send his (her) paper to the same e-mail address before October 10th, 2012.
The researchers must be original and must not have been the object on account of a publication.
